Important information about our bamboo toothbrushes
It's a really great feeling to get out of bed each day and brush with a bamboo toothbrush. Not just because they simply feel so healthy and natural, but because you know you're starting every day doing something to help the environment and make the world a little bit better. It's a great boost to your morning routine!
We've tested our toothbrushes for up to 6 months of use, but we recommend to follow normal dentist advice and change your toothbrush every 2-3 months, or every time you're sick - that's why our Year's Supply packs come with 6 bamboo toothbrushes.
With 96% less plastic than a standard toothbrush our brushes are a great way to cut down on your plastic consumption, and to bring a little nature back into your daily life. They're also ideal for travelling, or as a gift for environmentally-minded friends and family.
What Are Bamboo Toothbrushes Made From?
BAMWOO toothbrushes are made from premium materials, to ensure an excellent brushing experience, durability, and optimum oral care at the minimum environmental cost possible.
Mosu Bamboo Handle
Each toothbrush is made with a bamboo handle, which is 100% biodegradable. It's also naturally antibacterial, which means it stays clean and hygienic, even when dunked in water and scrubbed around your mouth twice a day. We use a species of bamboo called mosu, which is strong, fast-growing, and which pandas do not eat!
How long the handle takes to biodegrade depends on how you dispose of it: from 5-10 years if you just throw it in your garden, around 3 years if buried horizontally in the soil, to a few months in a home composter or just weeks in an industrial composter.
Medium Strength BPA-Free Nylon Bristles
The bristles are industry standard BPA-free nylon-6, in medium strength for effective cleaning without damaging gums. We believe that sustainable products have to perform at least as well as the original plastic product to be a truly viable and sustainable alternative, and our number 1 priority is to make toothbrushes that clean teeth properly.
Currently there are no natural or biodegradable materials available that meet our requirements for effective brushing, hygiene and cleanliness (do not harbour bacteria or rot), durability, and affordability. Rather than offer a sub-standard product that needs to be replaced twice as often, we made the decision to use industry standard bristles for optimum oral care. They need to be removed before composting, which takes just a few minutes - please find a how-to guide here.
